The modern world seeks, day by day, to eliminate the Kingship of Christ Our Lord in the hearts of men and as the center of all societies. Lamenting this modern error, Pope Pius XI, in his encyclical Quas Primas , set about to reassert the ultimate dominion Christ possesses over all men and all societies, and to that end, established the Feast of Christ the King.
Pope Pius XI established this feast on the last Sunday of October due to its proximity to All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day, as well to counter “Reformation Sunday” in Protestant circles, which occurs on the same day, to charge all Catholics and priests to live so as to restore all things in Christ.
On this day, Fr. Gerard Saguto, the District Superior for North America, offers a special Mass in honor of Our Lord’s Kingship, and in it includes your intentions. Please join us in honoring the Social Reign of Christ the King, by submitting your loved ones, friends, and intentions in this special Mass.
A novena holy card for the Feast of Christ the King can be downloaded here, which includes a Consecration to Christ the King that can be offered for the nine days concluding on the feast.
